black and white self portrait of a white woman with brown hair and glasses looking at the camera and leaning on her hand

Loren Holmes is a proud luddite.

Traditionally trained in analogue photography and black and white darkroom techniques at Leeds Art University, she favours grain over pixels and has a passion for alternative processes: cyanotype, cross processing, solargraphy, tintype, polaroid emulsion lifts. Subject wise, her work consists of portraits, landscapes, florals, the erotic, whichever captures her interest at the time. She often looks to her life for her primary motivation and draws on the fundamental themes of love, desire, loss and grief.

Loren enjoys working with her hands and is always looking to learn something new.
